A piece of semi-improvised musical theatre, this work exists only through a single performance given in my studio at the Villa Medicis at the time, based on a series of relatively precise sketches for the baritone and leaving the pianist a large part for improvisation. It deals with the doubling of personality, as the baritone plays both Faust and Mephisto, the latter in the falsetto register. It was the subject of a video recording the VHS cassette of which has never been viewed since 1998.
