The story is above all an evocation of the world through poetry and song. However, the aim is not to re-tell the history of the world as scientists might talk about it today, still less the history of Genesis, but to show that we can, if not create it, at least re-create it, and do so by means other than images: through words, sound and dance. The title, “The Creation Game”, avoids any religious or mythological context, and places children in an ever-active role, with their imaginations on the alert: here, Creation is the work that is played out, and whose open-ended form gives rise to a new composition at each performance.
