A dialogue of love in the heart of the night, this text finds herein a sound form with semi-improvised sequences moving through all the parts, and a musical writing in mirror in which the motives initially entrusted to the women’s voices are exchanged with those of the men’s voices in the conclusion, as in Madone de miséricorde (opus 41), but with a more symphonic choral dimension.
Recordings, audio excerpts: CD ‘Psalm’, September 2004, Naïve V 4999, & Label Inconnu. Jeune chœur et Cris de Paris, conducted by Laurence Equilbey and Geoffroy Jourdain.
(There is also a recording of this piece with the Mikrokosmos Choir, conducted by Loïc Pierre, on the CD “Beatitudines”, now out of print).
